Katrina specialises in corporate tax, stamp duty and GST issues across a range of industries, with particular focus on the resources, funds management and finance sectors.
Some of the major transactions on which Katrina has recently advised include:
- Shell's acquisition of an interest in Arrow Energy's assets - advised Shell on its initial acquisition of a 30 per cent direct interest in Arrow Energy's coal bed methane assets in Australia and Shell's subsequent acquisition of Arrow Energy jointly with PetroChina;
- Rio Tinto - part of the team that advised Rio Tinto on its proposed strategic alliance with Chinalco and the proposed Western Australian production joint venture with BHP Billiton;
- Felix Resources' A$3.3 billion acquisition by Yanzhou Coal Mining Company; and
- Apollo Gas' acquisition by Dart Energy.
In addition to her time at Allens, Katrina has worked in the tax group at Clifford Chance LLP in London advising on UK tax issues, with a particular focus on capital markets transactions, including Eurobond programmes for both UK and non-UK issuers.
Katrina also regularly advises clients looking to establish business operations in Australia on structuring and other tax-related issues.
Katrina is a member of the Queensland technical committee of the Taxation Institute of Australia and the Taxation Committee of the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
