Robert has a broad corporate and projects practice. The principal focus in these areas of practice includes mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, infrastructure projects (in the utilities, transport and social infrastructure industries) and investment fund transactions (including fund establishment, cornerstone investments and downstream acquisitions and disposals).
Robert has recently acted for financiers on the corporate aspects of the acquisition financing provided to the successful acquirer (Ventura Group) of the public transport business of Grenda Transit following a competitive sale process, assisted Total S.A. on its investment into the Gladstone LNG project in Queensland, and the Goodman Group on the US $270 million sale of an industrial property asset in Hong Kong to Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (its joint venture partner in China logistics assets).
Most recently Robert was Allens' lead partner acting for a consortium comprising Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board, Hastings Managed Infrastructure Funds Utilities Trust of Australia and The Infrastructure Fund on their successful bid to acquire the Sydney Desalination Plant, located in Kurnell NSW, for $2.3 billion.
Robert was previously the managing partner of our Singapore office and has been involved in transactions spanning the region, including in Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Korea, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Singapore. He continues to work on Asian transactions across the corporate space.
Robert is both Australian and UK-qualified, and, before joining Allens, worked for Slaughter and May.
