Chris has been a partner of the firm for more than 25 years and, during that time, has built an enviable reputation in the areas of environmental law, water law and planning law. He is listed as one of the 'Band 1' environmental lawyers in Australia by Chambers Asia Pacific 2014.
He has assisted in obtaining relevant environmental and planning approvals and has advised numerous companies on strategic issues in preparing applications for State and Commonwealth Approvals including the appropriate approach to environmental impact assessment.
Chris has developed particular expertise in relation to the sale and purchase of contaminated sites, both at an early stage in the process of assessing the risks involved, and then in preparing documents which allocate that risk.
He is the relationship partner for Melbourne Water Corporation and in that capacity has provided advice in relation to a broad range of issues including the setting of rates, the creation of drainage schemes, VCAT appeals and a range of property matters.
Chris has recently acted in respect of a number of mining and infrastructure projects including the Melbourne Water North-South Pipeline, the Esso Longford to Hastings Pipeline Replacement Project, ERA's Ranger Uranium Mine and a number of renewal energy projects.
Chris also regularly works with Acciona, Arrium, ExxonMobil, Ford, Newcrest, Orica, Rio Tinto, Shell, Transpacific Industries and Woolworths.
Chris has been trained formally in Legal Project Management, most recently attending a full-day LPM workshop delivered by US legal project management expert Susan Raridon Lambreth. Chris' LPM expertise drives efficient legal and business outcomes for his clients.
