Niranjan's experience includes working for over four years in the firm's Greater China offices. Niranjan has acted on a range of mergers, acquisitions and joint venture transactions in the hi-tech and media sectors, together with numerous technology and media licensing and procurement projects in Australia and Asia.

Niranjan's transactional experience includes advising:

  • CBS on its joint venture with Channel Ten to create Channel Eleven, one of the largest free-to-air digital multi channels in Australia;
  • Disney on its joint venture with SKT Telecom to create two new children's entertainment payTV channels in South Korea;
  • Experian on its acquisition of a 75 per cent interest in Emay Limited, a Cayman Island's holding company of a Chinese mobile marketing company;
  • SMI Corporation, a Beijing-based audio-visual company, on its acquisition of Photon a Gold Coast-based audio-visual company;
  • Contech on compulsory acquisition of Adelaide-based pipe technology company, Plastream Pipe Technologies, and the subsequent acquisition of the minority shareholders in Plastream;
  • Disney Interactive Studios on the acquisition of GameStar, an interactive games developer;
  • UK-listed Experian Ltd on the acquisition of a knowledge management company in Hong Kong and a joint venture with a market research company in Beijing;
  • Fresenius Kabi, a subsidiary of German-listed global healthcare group, Fresenius SE, on the acquisition of Cosco Pharm, a blood products pharmaceuticals business;
  • a group of international investors on the sale of a Chinese online portal, Lycos, to Livedoor, a Japanese e-commerce company;
  • AOL Inc on its 'AOL7!' joint venture with the Seven Network and AAPT, and on the subsequent sale of AOL7! to Primus Telecommunications;
  • Hutchison Telecommunications International on its GSM rollout in Vietnam with Ericsson and Huawei;
  • PT Hutchison CP Telecommunications on the rollout of a fibre network in Indonesia;
  • Vision Service Plan, the United States's largest eyecare benefits provider, on the acquisition of Monkey Software Pty Limited;
  • Thomson Reuters on various technology procurement projects in Asia, including a software development agreement with Thinksoft in Thailand and IT services agreements with IBM in China and Japan;
  • Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on its distribution strategy in China including due diligence reviews of two distributor partners;
  • TATA Sky, a joint venture between STAR TV and TATA Sons, in India in a systems integration agreement with TCS Consultancy for the provision of TATA Sky's DTH platform; and
  • Walt Disney Television Asia Pacific on a mobile licensing agreement with Shanghai Media Group.
