Richard is the Managing Partner of Allens.
Prior to becoming Managing Partner, Richard led Allens' market-leading Corporate practice and has been a member of the firm's Executive Committee. Richard chairs Allens' Community Engagement Board and has played a significant role over many years in Allens' law graduate recruitment program.
With more than 20 years' experience as a corporate lawyer, and a practice focusing on mergers and acquisitions and corporate advisory work, Richard has advised on some of the market's largest deals particularly across the mining, banking and retail sectors. He advised Rio Tinto on the takeover approach by BHP Billiton and its US$15.2 billion rights issues; JBWere on the creation of the Australian joint venture with Goldman Sachs and the subsequent buy-out by Goldman Sachs; and Bendigo Bank on the merger with Adelaide Bank. More recently, Richard worked with M2 Group on its proposed bid for iiNet, Bendigo & Adelaide Bank on its acquisition of Rural Finance Corporation and Country Road on the bid from Woolworths South Africa.
Richard also managed relationships with many of Allens' most significant and long-standing clients.
