Allens has further bolstered its market-leading Banking & Finance practice with the appointment of Benjamin Downie as a Managing Associate.

Benjamin joins Allens from Gilbert + Tobin where he was a Special Counsel, and will be based in the firm's Sydney office. He brings 15 years' experience in securitisation and debt capital markets.

Allens Partner and head of the firm's Banking & Finance practice Tom Highnam said the appointment of Benjamin was an important one.

'Securitisation continues to be a vital funding tool for financial institutions in the Australian market,' Tom said.

'With securitisation expertise increasingly important for acquisition financing for large-scale transactions, the increased focus on capital relief transactions, and the proposed revision of APS 120 potentially allowing for the introduction of revolving master trusts, the future growth of the securitisation market in Australia looks bright.'

Benjamin's appointment comes a month after the appointment of Banking & Finance Managing Associates Jo Folan and Tim Stewart as Partners of the firm.

'These recent appointments are crucial to maintaining our Banking & Finance practice as the go-to practice for our clients,' Tom said.

'We will continue to invest in our team to make sure we are equipped to continue to deliver high-end work for our clients.'
