Allens appoints new CIO

Allens has appointed Philip Scorgie to the role of Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Philip has spent the past three and a half years serving as the CIO for global law firm, Mayer Brown, based in the United States.

Commenting on Philip's appointment, Chief Operating Officer Rod Fielding said 'We see enormous potential in using new technologies to deliver services more effectively and efficiently to our clients. Philip and his team will play a key role in supporting our lawyers to meet the changing needs of our clients.'

Philip said, 'Australia is now one of the most competitive and exciting legal markets globally. We have entered a period of real change, and I am excited to join Allens, a firm that puts clients at the centre of its thinking, that is embracing change and the possibilities that new technology brings'.

Prior to his time at Mayer Brown, Philip was CIO at Norton Rose (in Australia) and prior to that Deacons (in Hong Kong).

Philip starts his new role on 10 May 2016 and will be based in Melbourne.
