Allens partner awarded French presidential honour

Allens Arthur Robinson (Allens) Partner Tracey Harrip will be awarded the Chevalier dans l'Ordre National du Mérite at a ceremony to be held on 22 August in Brisbane.
Ms Harrip will receive the honour as recognition of her significant role in reinforcing relations between Australia and France through her role over many years as a Committee Member and as President, from 2000 to 2006, of the Queensland Chapter of the French Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Recipients of the honour are chosen by the President of France, on the advice of the government. It is bestowed on both French and non-French nationals for distinguished civil or military achievements.
A partner at Allens for 20 years, Ms Harrip has acted for some of Queensland and Australia's largest companies, including Healthscope, QIC, David Jones and the Brisbane City Council. Most recently she has been representing receivers KordaMentha in the Supreme Court enforcing pre GFC contracts for the purchase of luxury residential apartments on the Gold Coast.
Ms Harrip has served on a range of boards over a number of years, including the Wesley Hospital and the Wesley Research Institute Limited, and has been a member of the Brisbane Lord Mayor's Business Round Table Committee and also the Brisbane Lord Mayor's Multicultural Round Table Committee.
Ms Harrip said she was deeply honoured to receive the award.
'I have thoroughly enjoyed my role in promoting the dynamic relationship between Australia and France,' she said.
'France is one of Australia's leading trade and cultural partners, and that is particularly evident in Queensland given our proximity to New Caledonia. Allens encourages its partners to serve in the broader community and I look forward to continuing my involvement in French Australian trade relations into the future.'
Allens Chairman Ewen Crouch said the firm was extremely pleased for Ms Harrip.
'This recognition is not only one that I am sure Tracey is immensely proud of, but it is also one in which our firm takes enormous pride and satisfaction,' Mr Crouch said.
