Bright lawyers embrace dark times28 March 2008 Leading international law firm Allens Arthur Robinson (Allens) will once again take part in the annual Earth Hour on Saturday, 29 March at 8pm. Allens' Australian offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth will go dark as a small way of reducing greenhouse emissions and as a significant gesture of support for environmentally friendly policies and sustainability. In last year's Earth Hour, 2.2 million people and 2100 Sydney businesses – including Allens – turned off their lights for one hour. If the greenhouse reduction achieved in the Sydney CBD during last year's Earth Hour was sustained for a year, it would be equivalent to taking 48,616 cars off the road for a year. A member of the firm's Footprint Committee, Phillip Cornwell, a Partner of the firm, said participation in Earth Hour combined staff participation with the raising of awareness in sustainable living. 'It is important for us to be involved because it shows we care about this issue
and our impact on the wider community,' Mr Cornwell said. For more information, go to www.earthhour.org/. Ends For further information, please contact:
