Allens officially opens new Jakarta premises

Leading Asia Pacific law firm Allens Arthur Robinson (Allens) has officially opened the new premises for its network member firm in Jakarta, Widyawan & Partners.
The Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Bill Farmer, joined Allens Chief Executive Partner Michael Rose, Executive Partner – Asia Jim Dunstan, Widyawan & Partners Senior Partner Widyawan, staff and clients at the opening of the office's new premises in The Energy building on 31 March.
Mr Dunstan said the move to the new premises was an indication of the importance of South East Asia to the firm.
'The new premises for the Jakarta office are a continuation of the investment the firm has made in this region over the past two years, including the expansion into Vietnam, the launch of a new locally licensed intellectual property business in China and the new joint law venture with TSMP in Singapore.
'We also expect that, despite the global economic downturn, there will be continued investment into Indonesia, especially in the energy sector.'
Speaking after the official opening, Mr Rose said he was delighted to have been able to attend the official opening of the new office.
'When we first started in Jakarta in 1988, we operated out of a two-storey house in a quiet suburban street. Only some of the rooms were air-conditioned.
'We now have a fantastic office that our clients will recognise, and that helps communicate our leading position in Indonesia and our "one firm" approach.'
