FAQs

What kind of candidates are you looking for?

We are interested in partnering with highly skilled lawyers with experience from a law firm or in-house team. We pride ourselves on the quality of our legal work and are looking for like-minded lawyers to work with us.

If this is a new way of working for you, we'll support you to be successful. Managing a flexible arrangement requires good communication and organisational skills, as well as personal drive and discipline. Allens Adapt will help you build and nurture these skills.

I'm interested. What do I do now?

If you would like to work with Allens Adapt, register your interest. You'll need to upload your CV and complete a short form outlining your area(s) of expertise and preferred working arrangements.

Once submitted, we will be in touch to discuss your experience and suitability for an assignment with us.

What are the terms of engagement?

There are a variety of options to engage with us, depending on your circumstances.

You can work either as an independent contractor or a casual or fixed term employee. The way we work together will depend on your needs and the requirements of the assignment.

Assignments may be within our Allens offices or off-site with a client.

What do I need to do to join Allens Adapt?

We are interested in building long -term, mutually beneficial relationships with our Allens Adapt candidates, and ensure we take the time to really understand your needs, experience and preferred ways of working right from the start.

While individual terms of engagement will vary according to your needs, there are a few things you'll need to work with us:

  • Current practising certificate;
  • Working rights in Australia;
  • Two references; and
  • Undertake pre-employment screening (we will cover the cost of this).

There are additional requirements if you choose to work with us as an independent contractor, which we will discuss with you.

Once an assignment is available that matches your area of expertise and availability, you will need to complete an Allens induction program before commencing work.

Can I work for anyone else?

Flexibility is one of the great benefits of Allens Adapt, and we don't seek to limit your opportunities. For each candidate, we aim to find an arrangement that works for both of us. For some assignments, exclusivity may be required.

In cases where you are working for other law firms, we will need you to give us details to ensure there are no conflicts. In addition to the ethical duties that extend to all admitted lawyers, you will need to sign our confidentiality agreement and declare there are no conflicts of interest that would affect your ability to work on any of our assignments.
