Tim has more than 33 years' experience in intellectual property and information technology law.

Tim is a highly experienced adviser on copyright, designs, confidential information and trade marks, as well as trade practices issues dealing with misleading and deceptive conduct. He is adept at drafting licensing, distribution and franchising agreements. He also undertakes substantial work in registering and protecting trade marks, designs and domain names. Tim has a substantial litigation practice in the intellectual property field, enforcing the rights of clients including before the Courts.

Tim's vast experience includes advising Australian Grand Prix Corporation, Australasian Food Group, Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, Christian Dior, Cricket Australia, Cricket World Cup 2015, Dairy Australia, Decor, Ford Motor Company, Forever New, The Herald and Weekly Times, The Just Group, Kraft Foods Limited, Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Corporation, Nike, Simplot (Leggo's etc), TAG Heuer, Tommy Hilfiger, Tyco, VAAM Management (Mark Webber), Victoria Racing Club, Visit Victoria, Victorian State Government, Wesfarmers and Wheel Pros.

Tim is a registered trade marks attorney and a partner of the firm's associated firm, Allens Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys, where he is in charge of IP registrations for a range of clients. He is a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, the International Trademark Association, the Franchise Council of Australia, the Copyright Society of Australia, the Australian and New Zealand Sports Law Association and the Victorian Society for Computers and the Law. He is also a member of the Anti-Counterfeiting Committee of the Intellectual Property Owners Association. He has authored and co-authored a number of proposals to government on behalf of the Law Council of Australia's Intellectual Property Committee, and for many years was an adviser to the Trade Marks Sub-Committee of that Intellectual Property Committee. Tim is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Practice, published by Oxford University Press. He is also a member of the Programming Advisory Council of the International Trademark Association (INTA)

Tim chaired the Law Council of Australia's Designs Sub-Committee which made detailed submissions to Government urging changes to designs law, which led to the enactment of the Designs Act 2004.

Tim has been ranked by Chambers Global as one of the five 'top tier' leading lawyers in Australia for copyright and trade mark law for each year from 2007 to 2017 (inclusive). He also is consistently listed (including in 2017) as a leading practitioner by International Who's Who Legal (WWL) for Trademarks, Franchise and Sports & Entertainment and has been recognised as a 'Thought Leader' by WWL in the areas of Entertainment and Trademarks. For 2017 WWL named Tim as the leading Australian Sports & Entertainment lawyer. Tim has been named by World Intellectual Property Review as one of its 'WIPR Leaders 2017'.
