Allens has advised Australian ASX-listed company M2 Group Ltd on its full acquisition of New Zealand's third largest internet service provider for A$245 million.

The deal will see M2 Group purchase a 100 per cent stake in the Call Plus Group and a related entity, 2Talk Limited.

M2 Group, which provides a full suite of traditional and next generation telecommunications products and utility services to Australian households and small businesses, will pay for the acquisition and finance existing debt through new fully underwritten multi-year loan facilities.

The Allens team on the matter was led by Partner Mark Malinas.

Mr Malinas said the firm was proud to be involved in such a significant and strategic deal for a new client.

'This was our first M&A transaction with M2 Group and it happened to be the company's most significant expansion into New Zealand,' he said.

'We were able to bring our cross-border experience in M&A and acquisition finance to bear within a tight timeframe to help this significant deal get done.'
