Allens has advised Australia Post on a global e-commerce joint venture between Australia Post and Dubai-headquartered logistics company Aramex.

The new joint venture will target the global e-commerce market, with a particular focus on Asia.

Mark Malinas, Corporate partner of Allens, said this was a transformational project for Australia Post.

'We are delighted to have assisted our client Australia Post with this important transaction, which puts the organisation in a strong position for future growth in the region,' Malinas said.

As a first step, the joint venture has acquired Australia Post's e-commerce postal and supply chain business Star Track International.

Australia Post has also acquired Mail Call Couriers from Aramex, as part of the broader alliance transaction.

The Allens team was led by Corporate Partners Mark Malinas and Craig Henderson, together with Competition Practice Lead Fiona Crosbie, with support from the employment, technology and IP teams.

The wider Allens team was also assisted by the Singapore office of our global alliance partner Linklaters and worked in collaboration with Australia Post's in-house legal team led by General Counsel Nick Macdonald.
