Allens has advised Goldwind on the development and financing of the Stockyard Hill Wind Farm project, which commenced construction this month.

When constructed, the 530MW wind farm will be the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, producing enough clean energy to power approximately 391,000 homes.

Allens has worked with Goldwind throughout the development process, including on its successful bid to purchase the project, the project financing and the network connection arrangements.

The multidisciplinary team from Allens drew on expertise from the firm's market-leading Banking & Finance, Energy, M&A and Real Estate & Development groups.

'We are delighted to have worked with Goldwind on this ground-breaking wind farm project,' said Partner Scott McCoy, who led the project financing advice.

'The development is a coup for renewable energy production in Australia, not only for the scale of its energy output, but also for the competitive price at which it will be produced.

'Through this project and others, we're seeing continued interest and investment in wind energy, and renewable energy in general, with the industry establishing itself as a growing contributor to the Australian energy mix.'

Allens is a leading adviser in the renewable energy sector, having recently advised on major projects such as Orora's PPA in relation to the Lal Lal Wind Farm, Beryl Solar Farm and Cattle Hill Wind Farm.
