Allens has advised The GEO Group Australia on the expansion of the Fulham Correctional Centre in Sale, Victoria.

Allens advised on procurement, legal and commercial aspects of the expansion, which will see 102 beds added to the current contract capacity of 947 beds and an upgrade of the Centre's existing facilities.

The expansion follows Allens' advice on the extension of the operating contract at the Centre signed in 2015, which represented a $1.45 billion nominal investment over the life of the contract by the State of Victoria.

'We are proud to have advised The GEO Group Australia on this project, which presents a great example of creating value through enhancing existing assets,' said lead Partner David Donnelly.

'Allens has supported the modernisation of the private prison system in Victoria through its work on the Ravenhall Prison PPP, Fulham Correctional Centre Extension, Port Phillip Prison Extension and the retendering of the pharmaceutical supply contracts across the Victorian prison network.'

The advice also builds on Allens' expertise in sole-sourced procurements, which includes work on Gold Coast Light Rail – Stage 2, the Casey Hospital Expansion Project and a number of ongoing procurements.
