Allens appoints new Chief Executive Partner

By Richard Spurio

Richard Spurio has today been announced as the new Chief Executive Partner (CEP) of Allens.

Taking over the reins from outgoing CEP Michael Rose, Richard will build on the transformational work Michael has led over the past decade.

Chairman of the Board Ian Wallace said that Richard demonstrated a range of leadership attributes needed to lead the firm through its next phase.

'The role of CEP is to ensure we understand our clients' businesses and work with them to deliver commercial results. Richard will bring to the role strong leadership experience, and deep market knowledge,' Mr Wallace said.

Commenting on the role, Richard said he was proud and excited by the opportunity.

'I have been with Allens for 20 years and respect the firm's history and also have a deep commitment to helping the firm continue to adapt in what is a rapidly changing business environment.

'The role enables me to work closely with our clients as they navigate a changing world economy and regulatory landscape.

'I am also looking forward to working with our people through some exciting times ahead,' Richard said.

Richard is recognised as one of Australia's leading corporate and M&A lawyers and has acted on some of the market's largest deals across the mining, banking and retail sectors.

'The Board and partnership would like to thank Michael Rose for his outstanding contribution to the firm and know that his expertise will be very helpful during the transition period,' Mr Wallace said.

Richard begins his new role in January 2016.
