Allens advises consortium on successful bid to build Victorian prison

International law firm Allens has advised the successful consortium chosen to build Victoria's new men's prison.

The GEO Consortium comprises the GEO Group Australia Pty Limited, John Holland Pty Ltd, Honeywell Limited and Capella Capital. The consortium has won the right to build and operate the Ravenhall Prison, which will be a medium security, men's prison designed to accommodate 1000 prisoners.

The prison will be located adjacent to the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre and Metropolitan Remand Centre.

The deal reached financial close today.

The Allens team was led by Partner David Donnelly and included partners and lawyers from the firm's Projects, Finance, Tax and Construction teams.

Mr Donnelly said the firm was proud to have advised the GEO Consortium in its successful bid to secure such a significant infrastructure project.

'Victoria is currently engaged in a wave of new infrastructure projects and the Ravenhall Prison Project is one of the largest in the state,' he said.
