Allens has advised Healthscope Limited, one of Australia's leading private healthcare operators, on the sale of its Australian medical centres business to Fullerton Health, a leading provider of healthcare solutions across Asia Pacific.

Healthscope's Australian medical centres business comprises 43 medical centres and 4 skin care clinics across Australia and a specialist breast clinic in Sydney.

The transaction follows our role advising Healthscope on the sale of its Australian pathology business in 2015.

'Australia's healthcare sector continues to attract significant private investment interest, particularly from Asia. And with increasing healthcare needs in Australia, there is little sign of this sector dynamic changing', lead partner, Emin Altiparmak said.

'The shifting regulatory sands in this sector have not dissuaded strategic or financial investors from pursuing investment opportunities, and what we're seeing in this deal is a recognition of the increasing role played by medical centres in our healthcare ecosystem', Emin said.

For Healthscope, this divestment continues its focus on its core private hospitals business, including its hospitals expansion program.

The transaction drew upon Allens' healthcare sector expertise and involved lawyers across several offices.
