About Penny Nikoloudis

Penny is a leading funds management and financial services regulation specialist.

Penny has over 20 years' experience advising on structuring and raising capital for investment funds, as well as ongoing regulatory, investment and operational matters affecting funds. She advises on both retail and wholesale investment funds, across a broad range of asset classes and sectors, including real estate, infrastructure, renewable energy, private debt and equities.

Penny has been recognised as a leading investment funds lawyer by Chambers Asia-Pacific for the past 10 years. Penny is a member of the Allens board and chairs the firm's Audit Committee.

Penny's experience includes:
  • advising LOGOS on the establishment of a fund for a consortium of investors comprising AustralianSuper, AXA, NSW Treasury Corporation, Ivanhoe Cambridge and LOGOS in connection with the acquisition of the warehousing and property components of the Moorebank Logistics Part, Australia's largest intermodal freight facility;
  • advising Greystar on the establishment of its first Australian build-to-rent (multifamily) fund, including subsequent closings and investments;
  • advising Mirvac on the establishment of its $1.8 billion build-to-rent fund;
  • advising Octopus Investments on the establishment of two open-ended renewable energy funds, OASIS and OREO, which co-invest into an Australian renewable energy portfolio across wind, solar and storage assets;
  • advising MaxCap on the establishment of the MaxCap Investment Trust;
  • advising LOGOS on the establishment and ongoing operation of its Australian capital partnerships and ventures with institutional investors, including the establishment of funds to acquire interests in the Qantas site in Mascot and the KKR/Mubadala backed logistics venture;
  • advising Woolworths Limited on the spin-off by Woolworths, and initial public offering , of Shopping Centres Australasia Property Group.
  • advising the Goodman Group-led consortium of global investors (comprising Goodman Group, CPPIB, CIC and APG) on the acquisition of ING Industrial Fund and establishment of Goodman Trust Australia
  • advising a consortium of investors comprising an affiliate of Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, the Public Sector Pension Investment Board of Canada and a member of the Charter Hall Group on the acquisition of Charter Hall Office REIT;
  • advising Canada Pension Plan Investment Board on fund-related aspects of the acquisitions of the Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group and the Intoll Group;
  • advising senior lenders on fund-related aspects of the work-out, restructuring and debt-to-equity conversion involving Centro Properties Group.

Penny also has experience in fund related insolvencies and litigation, having advised lenders, receivers and company boards in connection with the Timbercorp, Willmott Forests, Quintis and Banksia Financial Group insolvencies.

Penny has completed a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance Investment at the Securities Institute of Australia. She is a member of the Corporate Governance Committee of the Property Council of Australia.
