About David Rountree
David is a corporate Partner in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications team. David’s practice involves advising both private and government clients on complex technology transactions, digital transformation initiatives, and tech and data driven commercial and outsourcing arrangements.
David specialises in advising in highly regulated industries and working with clients to use technology and data to deliver innovative commercial arrangements or new business areas. David also frequently advises clients on complex separation and transformation processes and activities, working with clients to manage the smooth transfer of business functions and supporting technology.
David is also an experienced privacy and data advisor, working with clients to provide regulatory and compliance advice, privacy and data risks assessments, data commercialisation assistance, and cyber incident preparedness and response (having acted for major corporate and government clients on all aspects of breach preparation and response to large scale incidents).
David also works with emerging and established companies on their growth and development. This includes assisting startups and emerging companies through the Allens Accelerate practice, as well as advising on the implementation of new technologies, in particular having engaged with industry, government and emerging companies on blockchain, distributed ledger and cryptocurrency issues.
David also has experience working for media companies, having worked for and at Fox Sports, particularly in relation to broadcast rights arrangements.
David was recognised by Legal 500 in 2024 as a Next Generation Partner for Data Protection and by Doyle's Guide as one of 2018's 'Intellectual Property and TMT Rising Stars'.
