About Huong Tran

Huong Tran is a senior associate at Allens’ Hanoi Office and has experience in energy and infrastructure projects as well as corporate transactions and advice.

Huong holds a B.A. degree with Distinction from the Faculty of Public International Law, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. She also holds an LL.B. degree from the University of Nottingham, UK and an LL.M. degree with Distinction from the same university.

Huong’s experience includes advising:
  • A Malaysian renewable developer – on the potential acquisition of an offshore wind project and a floating solar project.
  • Mainstream Renewable Power – on the Vietnamese aspects of the sale of its global renewable business to Aker Horizons; on its potential investment in a number of solar power projects in the Central Highlands in Vietnam; and on its investments in a number of early-stage offshore wind projects in Vietnam.
  • Corio Generation – on its partnership with Fecon to develop a 500MW offshore wind project in Vietnam.
  • Iberdrola – on the acquisition of a 550 MW pipeline of green assets, comprising five onshore wind farms and one floating solar project from German renewable energy group Sowitec.
  • Macquarie Capital – on a number of its potential renewable investments in Vietnam (including in relation to wind power, solar power and waste-to-energy projects).
  • Ørsted – on investment in offshore wind power projects, regulatory and compliance issues, and licensing matters.
  • Nghi Son Refinery Project – on various aspects of its development, including construction, procurement, government support and project financing.
  • Major US energy company – on several aspects of its investment in an offshore petroleum project in Vietnam.
  • Mitsui and PTTEP – on their development of Block B/52 project in Vietnam, assisting on commercial agreements of the project.
  • LNG to power project investors – on their potential investments in integrated LNG to power projects in Vietnam (including in relation to bidding processes for investor selection).
  • A world leading engineering company – on various regulatory matters in relation to LNG facility EPC works in Vietnam.
  • A Japanese investor – on legal requirements and process to set up a smart logistics platform for container port(s) in Vietnam.
  • Nippon Sheet Glass – on various corporate issues including establishment of a joint venture in Vietnam to produce low iron silica sand for use in production of solar panels; and on restructuring of their businesses in Vietnam.
  • Nissan Motor Limited – on various regulatory issues and contractual matters relating to its investment in Vietnam.
  • A Russian investor – on a legal due diligence of its refinery project in Vietnam.
  • An European investor – on its potential acquisition of a limestone mining project in Vietnam.
  • A Thai investor – on its potential acquisition of two IPP power projects in Vietnam, in conjunction with Linklaters, including advising on their CfD power purchase agreements.
  • A foreign investor – on a legal due diligence for its proposed acquisition of an interest in the Vinh Tan 1 power plant, in conjunction with a Chinese law firm.
  • A Singaporean investor – on its acquisition of an eye hospital in Vietnam.
  • Siam City Cement Public Company Limited – on various regulatory issues related to the negotiations and implementation of existing and new cement productions in Vietnam.
