Allens advises Melbourne Water on Hobson's Bay Upgrade Project

Infrastructure & Transport

Allens has advised Melbourne Water on the Hobson's Bay Main Upgrade Project.

The Project involves significant tunnelling under the Yarra River to upgrade the key connection between Melbourne and the Western Treatment Plant in Werribee.

This project is part of Melbourne Water’s commitment to protecting Melbourne’s bays and waterways from environmental harm and ensuring the reliability of the core infrastructure that underpins the liveability of Melbourne.

Partner David Donnelly, who led the Allens team, said 'The procurement process recognised the complexity of the tunnelling works and the challenges of the current market. It is a real credit to the Melbourne Water team, led by Nerissa Taylor and Robert Belcher, that they have been able to create the right incentives for a successful project.'

Congratulations to Melbourne Water and the successful tenderer, John Holland, on reaching this significant milestone.
