Allens congratulates the NSW Government and Northwest Rapid Transit (NRT) on the opening of the Southwest Metro, marking another major expansion of Sydney’s metro network.
The opening marks an important milestone in Allens’ longstanding involvement in Sydney Metro, which spans the original transaction, subsequent augmentation and project delivery.
The firm advised NRT on the $3.7 billion Sydney Metro Public Private Partnership augmentation, which included the refinancing and extension of the original PPP arrangements and financing for the City and Southwest extension.
Partner David Donnelly said: ‘The opening of the Southwest Metro is an exciting milestone for Sydney and the communities along the line. We’re proud to have supported NRT from transaction through to delivery and to have worked alongside the broader project team to reach this point.'
Allens’ long-term involvement in Sydney Metro reflects the firm’s broader experience advising on major transport infrastructure projects across Australia, including Western Sydney International Airport, which opened on Sunday, and the Melbourne Metro Tunnel.
