Anthony is a highly regarded commercial litigator and courtroom advocate, known for advising large corporate clients and government entities on complex commercial disputes.  His area of expertise includes Banking & Finance, insolvency, insurance, mining, oil and gas. Anthony sits as a member of the PNG Law Society Council and has signed the roll of overseas counsel with the Victorian Bar. He is a respected member of the legal profession and community in PNG. Anthony’s recent experience includes advising:
  • Ok Tedi Mining Limited: in National and Supreme Court proceedings arising from alleged claims for environmental damage and breaches of principles for free, prior and informed consent, including managing stakeholder engagement and coordinating defence strategy across various injunctions and interlocutory applications.
  • Total Marketing Asia-Pacific Middle East Pte Ltd: in National and Supreme Court proceedings involving claims relating to mortgagee possession and interference with equitable rights, including coordinating the prosecution of injunctive relief and defence strategy across various interlocutory applications in the National and Supreme Courts of Papua New Guinea.
  • Kenmore Group of Companies: claims for insurance coverage under the company's ISR policy in connection with a fire causing damage to various stock
  • Rio Tinto: as part of the Allens disputes team, assisting in the coordination of broader litigation strategy, including appearing as co-counsel and managing landowner litigation arising from third-party litigation funding arrangements.
  • ExxonMobil: in proceedings involving Incorporated Land Groups, engaging issues central to PNG LNG projects, customary land governance, and landowner claims; and appearing as counsel for ExxonMobil PNG in the National Court, including in interlocutory and procedural applications with a particular focus on injunctive relief and civil and criminal contempt proceedings.
  • Newmont Mining: in landowner and national content related litigation and employment and industrial disputes, including human resources matters.
  • National Information Communication & Technology Authority: the administrative decision by the Ombudsman Commission prohibiting the issuance of a low earth orbiting operating licence to Starlink and restricting public access to the service.
  • Nambawan Super Limited: in litigation against the Independent State of Papua New Guinea for the recovery of unpaid contributions.
  • Santos Limited: assisting in company, regulatory and compliance disputes.
  • Torrens Mining Limited: on administrative law and appearing as counsel in judicial review proceedings challenging the refusal of the Minister for Mining to grant a mining exploration license.
  • Steamships Trading Company: acting in various civil and commercial disputes and acting in judicial review proceedings relating to grant and forfeiture of state leases.
