Vacation clerks

We recruit vacation clerks from universities across Australia. Applications are open to students who are in their penultimate or final year of study.

We offer one winter and three summer clerkships coinciding with most university holidays. A winter clerkship is typically offered only to students in their final year. Summer clerkships are offered to students who are in their penultimate year of study. It's important that you have a significant amount of your law studies completed by the time your clerkship begins, so that you are able to apply your knowledge and skills to the work you'll be doing.

Our winter clerkship runs for two weeks and our summer clerkships run for three weeks. Each clerkship program combines:

• Orientation
  Allens system training, safety induction, research skills and risk management procedures.
   
• Commercial law in practice
  Interactive presentations by our partners and lawyers on real matters they have worked on, how they determined the issues and produced a commercial solution for the client.
   
• Focus on your career
  Career development presentation by our staff partner, Q&A on the graduate recruitment process and an "inside information" lunch with our law graduates.
   
• Work
  You'll spend a significant amount of time working on real matters with our partners and lawyers to get a taste of what it's really like to work in a commercial law firm.
