Invest in indigenous commercial relationships

• Founding member of the Australian Indigenous Minority Supplier Council (AIMSC).
• Engaged with Message Stick to supply telecommunications services across our firm.
• Partnered with Indigenous Careers and Employment for recruitment.
• 175 hours of pro bono work to date assisting an innovative Indigenous enterprise to form a structure for potential investors.
• Engaged Michael McDaniel, Corporate Culcha and Yettica Group for cultural awareness training.

Build cultural awareness across our firm and in our community

• 600 hours of cultural awareness training.
• 2628 hits on our Closing the Gap intranet site in Reconciliation Week alone.
• 12 forums and events in all Australian offices during Reconciliation Week including cultural heritage walks, art discussions and shared experiences from the Stolen Generations.
• 200 Blue Hoodies worn in support of AIME National Hoodie Day.
• Implementation of firm wide protocol for Acknowledging Country.
• Created local RAP committees in each office with responsibility to educate and engage local employees on Indigenous issues and opportunities of relevance to that location.

Continue our pro bono commitment

• 5032 hours invested in rights advocacy and commercial transactions for Indigenous clients.
• 1 in 3 lawyers involved in pro bono work and indigenous client relationships.
• Indigenous clients represent 25% of all new pro bono clients.
• Successfully completed land rights work for Nambucca Heads Local Aboriginal Land Council and the Unkya Local Aboriginal Land Council.

Create employment opportunities in our firm and in our community

• 16 Indigenous interns commenced with us nationally in 2011.
• 4 secondees sent to Native Title Representative Bodies over 4 months.
• Developed reverse secondment program with NITV.

Advocate and lead reconciliation in our profession

• 10 internal seminars as part of national seminar program hosted by Indigenous elders, community and business leaders.
• 2 employees sponsored to represent their Indigenous communities at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
• Hosted cultural capacity development session for members of L&D profession network.
• More than 250 hours building knowledge and awareness of Indigenous initiatives through networking seminars and events.
• Shared knowledge and experiences with peer firms and professional bodies in developing their RAP.
