Scaling regulatory response across 14 million documents
Allens helped a major financial services client establish a centralised operating model for regulatory response, combining legal expertise, review services and digital capability to create a more efficient and scalable approach to managing regulatory engagement.
The challenge
Large financial services organisations often face multiple overlapping regulatory requests, investigations and reporting obligations. Managing each matter independently can increase costs, duplicate effort and make it harder to maintain consistency over time.
Our client wanted a more sustainable model that would provide greater oversight, consistency and efficiency across ongoing regulatory activity.
How Allens helped
Allens designed and implemented a managed service model built around a centralised data repository and structured review framework. Regulatory materials could be received, processed and managed within a consistent model supported by analytics, workflow standardisation and technology-assisted review.
The service was designed as an ongoing capability.
Impact
Since July 2024, the service has:
- managed approximately 14 million documents;
- supported more than 90 regulatory productions;
- consolidated data across matters, minimising duplication and cutting data fees by more than 15% compared with a matter-by-matter approach;
- reduced the volume of documents needing manual review through technology-assisted review; and
- given the client a more predictable way to respond to regulators.
Why it matters?
Set up once
A standing model means each new request doesn't need its own process, team and platform.
Plan with confidence
Handling recurring requests the same way makes the effort and timing easier to predict.
Free up your team
Less repetitive manual work leaves your lawyers more time for the higher-risk issues.
If regulatory requests are a constant for your organisation, it's worth asking whether your current approach is built for the next request.
