He has been 'particularly active on asset financing in the past year and advised lenders in a wide range of projects'. Chambers Global has also consistently ranked Ian as a world leading banking and finance lawyer since 2000.
Structured finance transactions, including property finance and aircraft finance transactions, are a particular area of expertise.
In addition to his front-end finance practice, Ian has an active restructuring and insolvency practice and is widely recognised as a leading lawyer in that area. Over the past ten years he has been involved in the restructuring of the Burns Philp & Co Group, the administration of the Henry Walker Eltin Group and the administration of the Lift Capital Group amongst other transactions. Most recently he has led the team advising the lender group in relation to the Babcock and Brown Power/Alinta Energy debt restructure and ultimately its debt for equity scheme of arrangement and recapitalisation (ALB Restructuring Deal of the Year 2011).
