Biotech News Innovator company to success story Decision making to fund and grow your business In brief: Allens Arthur Robinson (AAR) is proud to be participating in the upcoming Australian Innovation Festival (AIF) with seminars in Brisbane (May 12), Melbourne (May 13) and Sydney (May 14). The AIF is a fortnight-long celebration and promotion of Australia's innovation and entrepreneurship, under the Federal Government's 'Backing Australia's Ability' initiative. Also supported by the State Governments, the AIF encompasses a wide range of events, covering all industry sectors, across all States. At last year's AIF, approximately 150,000 people attended over 300 events in both metropolitan and regional areas.
The five major objectives for the AIF are as follows:
- Demonstrate the value of research, development and commercialisation.
- Profile Australia's intellectual capital.
- Reinforce the innovation and entrepreneurial process, from idea to market.
- Facilitate networking between innovators and investors.
- Collaborate nationally and with each Australian state & territory.
Further information on the festival is available at the AIF website.
Allens Arthur Robinson seminars
Having secured seed/first-round funding, young technology companies enter one of the toughest phases of the commercialisation process. Securing second and third round funding while developing new technology, launching production, consolidating finances, settling business structures and planning for the long-term requires making some critical decisions. AAR's seminars are intended to address these issues.
In afternoon seminars, we will present a practical look at topics including: commercialisation options; high-tech licensing pitfalls; tax; structuring your business for funding and the future; and ongoing IP capture and protection. Each speaker will link their talk back to the issues raised in the hypothetical case study.
AAR has a long history of involvement with innovator companies - we act for some of Australia's largest and most successful organisations, including Gradipore, Keycorp, Proteome Systems, Biota, CSL and Peptech as well as smaller and early stage technology companies. We are keen to share some of our experience, and that of our guest speakers, who include the following.
