Allens has advised Transurban on its strategic partnership with autonomous driving software company Plus to help bring the benefits of automated freight one step closer.

The partnership will combine Transurban's infrastructure and established relationships with Plus's expertise in autonomous driving technology to explore how automated freight could improve road congestion, safety and traffic flow.

The partnership positions Victoria as an international leader in automated freight, and builds on the success of Transurban's first self-driving truck trial on CityLink and the Monash Freeway last year.

'We've seen a surge in interest from investors in funding the development and use of autonomous driving technology in recent years, particularly through collaborations between traditional vehicle manufacturers and startups with a strong focus on AI, sensors and connectivity technologies,' said lead Partner and co-Head of Allens Accelerate, Elyse Adams.

'The partnership between Transurban and Plus shows the extraordinary potential of collaboration between established industry players and startups, particularly in the autonomous freight vehicle market.

'We congratulate Transurban and Plus on their partnership and look forward to seeing what comes next.'

Allens routinely advises investors and corporates on their engagement with promising startups as part of the Allens Accelerate practice.
