About Warwick Newell
Warwick advises on a broad range of transactions across the banking and finance market, with particular expertise in acquisition and leveraged finance, restructurings and workouts, property finance and corporate finance. Warwick acts for a range of lenders in the Australian market (across the bank, fund and private lending spheres), along with a number of ASX listed and privately owned companies, and is recognised for his commercial and solutions-based approach to addressing legal issues alongside his deal and project management skills.
Warwick's experience in the acquisition finance space includes acting for Uniti on its acquisition of Opticomm, the senior lenders supporting PEP/Carlyle's acquisition of iNova Pharmaceuticals (one of the first unitranche transactions to be completed in the Australian market), the senior lenders to an underbidder for Genesis Care, the senior lenders to Bega on its purchase of the Vegemite business from Mondelez, and borrowers such as Vocus and Bapcor on their acquisition facilities.
Warwick has also been involved in a number of high-profile restructuring transactions, including advising the senior lenders to Freedom Foods, MMA Offshore, Swissport, McAleese, Aeris Resources, Elders and Centro. In addition to these restructurings, Warwick has recently advised on a number of restructuring situations across the retail, manufacturing, agricultural and property sectors and has acted for various senior lenders on a number of loan-to-own transactions.
Warwick also advises lenders and borrowers on cross border and domestic syndicated, club and bilateral transactions in the corporate and property finance market. He has recently acted for borrowers, including Newcrest, Vocus, IDP Education, Bapcor, Lifestyle Communities and McMillan Shakespeare, and the lenders to Village Roadshow, Myer, Vicinity Centres, United Petroleum, ISPT and Growthpoint Properties.
