About Carolyn Oddie
Carolyn is a leading competition and regulatory lawyer with more than 25 years’ experience advising on competition and consumer issues in Australia and overseas. She advises clients on complex merger clearances, joint ventures, collaboration arrangements and conduct issues under the restrictive trade practices provisions and the Australian Consumer Law. Most recently, Carolyn acted for Veolia, a provider of water, waste and energy management services, in securing ACCC clearance for its acquisition of Suez which attracted significant scrutiny from the ACCC.
With a background in intellectual property litigation, Carolyn has extensive litigation and regulatory investigations experience. She has represented clients on a wide range of issues including complex cartel investigations and prosecutions, leniency and immunity applications, dawn raids, misuse of market power and restrictive trade practices issues as well as brand protection and advertising disputes. She is part of the firm's Risk & Compliance Advisory team having significant experience advising on risk management and compliance issues across a range of industries.
Carolyn is also the firm's Healthcare Sector leader and has a particular focus in health and pharmaceutical regulation. She acts for a number of global companies including AstraZeneca and Sanofi Aventis.
Carolyn is active in competition policy development internationally and has experience working with companies in South East Asia. She is an Officer of the International Bar Association's Antitrust Section preparing submissions to government and regulators on competition issues around the world. She is also an active member of the Law Council of Australia's Competition and Consumer Law Committee.
