About Rob Watt
Rob advises leading domestic and international banks, sponsors, contractors, banks and governments on financing transactions. This includes project and structured financing, PPPs, leveraged acquisitions, property financing and capital markets, as well as general corporate finance. He has worked on transactions in Australia, Asia, the United States, the Middle East and Europe.
High-profile project finance transactions include advising in relation to the sale and debt refinancing of the Loy Yang A Power Station in Victoria, the financing of the successful bid for the Trans Territory Pipeline Project in the Northern Territory, the US$1.7 billion Shuweihat S1 Power and Water Desalination Project in Abu Dhabi (ProjectFinance Power and Water Deal of the Year 2001), the US$500 million San Lorenzo Power Project in the Philippines and the US$596 million Taweelah A2 Power and Water Project in Abu Dhabi (ProjectFinance/Power Deal of the Year 1999).
Rob has extensive experience in the financing of toll roads, including advising MBIA on the Lane Cove Tunnel Project, Cross City Motorway on the Cross City Tunnel Project, the lenders on the refinancing of the Eastern Distributor, and the M5 and EIF on the Beira Interior Shadow Toll Road Project in Portugal (ProjectFinance Transport Infrastructure Deal of the Year 1999).
Rob has also worked on significant resources, oil and gas and telecom financings, including the Casino gas field development in the Otway Basin, the financing of 3G networks in Germany, France and Spain, and the debt restructuring of TelecomAsia, the telecom network operator for Bangkok and surrounding areas. Rob is recognised in Chambers Asia-Pacific 2015-2018 as a 'notable practitioner' who is described by sources as a 'sharp and creative mind with a calm temperament,' he is also singled out as a 'strong negotiator and fun to work with'.
