Tony has conducted a broad range of litigation in commercial law and taxation disputes, including several complicated and high profile matters in the Federal Court of Australia and the Supreme Courts of Victoria, NSW and Western Australia and in the Federal Court of Australia.
He has a deep understanding of issues relating to trade practices, insolvency, the Corporations Act; trusts, joint ventures, administrative law, professional negligence and contractual claims. He is familiar with injunction applications and class action procedures.
Since becoming a partner in 1990, Tony has represented a large petroleum company in litigation relating to a $1.6 billion takeover, represented a bank over a widely reported property trust collapse, and a major airline in a dispute over a joint venture and acted in complicated tax litigation and a series of class actions and group proceedings. He has also been involved in advising on a range of insolvency issues and involved in finance work outs.
Tony has acted for both applicants and respondents in relation to Freedom of Information requests, including representing clients in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (Cth) and before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal in relation to FOI matters generally, including reverse FOI matters.
Tony has been trained formally in Legal Project Management, most recently attending a full-day LPM workshop delivered by US legal project management expert Susan Raridon Lambreth. Tony's LPM expertise drives efficient legal and business outcomes for his clients.
