About Jenny Campbell
Jenny specialises in managing commercial disputes (with a particular focus on class actions and financial services litigation) and investigations.
Jenny is a class actions specialist. Few can match her depth of experience in defending class actions. She is acting (or has acted) on the defence of shareholder class actions against Aristocrat (the first securities class action in Australia to proceed to trial), Leighton Holdings (now known as CIMIC) and QBE Insurance Group; the defence of class actions relating to structured financial products against the Commonwealth Bank and The Royal Bank of Scotland (ABN Amro); and Westpac's defence of the bank fees class actions. She also advises on foreshadowed class actions and class action risk more generally, and writes and presents extensively on class actions issues.
She also regularly acts for financial services clients in other forms of litigation and has extensive experience in assisting them to respond to regulatory investigations and conduct internal investigations. Her banking clients include the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Westpac, The Royal Bank of Scotland and JPMorgan. Her recent regulatory experience has included acting for a major investment bank on ASIC and ACCC inquiries in relation to BBSW and currency rates. Her internal investigation experience has included insider trading, compliance and foreign corrupt practices issues.
Her practice also includes major commercial cases and arbitrations, particularly those involving contract disputes, misleading and deceptive conduct claims and shareholder disputes.
Jenny's approach is hands-on, practical and commercial. She takes the time to understand each client's business and the commercial context in which their dispute arises. As a result, she doesn't lose sight of the big picture. She also understands the importance of pro-active project management in the context of large disputes.
Jenny has been trained formally in Legal Project Management, most recently attending a full-day LPM workshop delivered by US legal project management expert Susan Raridon Lambreth. Jenny's LPM expertise drives efficient legal and business outcomes for her clients.
