Philip has significant expertise in dispute resolution and regulatory investigations. He is a trusted advisor to clients facing strategic commercial litigation or inquiries. Recent matters include acting for Woodside in judicial review proceedings and in proceedings in the Federal Court challenging its primary approval for the Scarborough project, acting for CITIC in its multi-faceted disputes with Clive Palmer's Mineralogy and acting for Crown in the Perth Casino Royal Commission.

  • Woodside Scarborough Project – Acting for Woodside in ongoing Federal Court proceedings brought by an environmental group seeking to prevent the Scarborough project development and defending judicial review proceedings challenging an environmental approval relating to that project.
  • Santos Barossa Project – Acting for Santos in Federal Court proceedings defending challenges environmental approvals.
  • Bluewaters Power Station – Acting in relation to ongoing issues in relation to The Griffin Coal Mining Company.
  • CITIC – Advising on a range of issues arising from the development and operation of the US$10 billion Sino Iron Project, located at Cape Preston in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
