Allens says 'Hello' to Meet & Engage

Allens is the first Australian law firm to sign on with Meet & Engage, a platform helping leading employers connect and engage with candidates early in the recruitment cycle. Like its alliance partner, Linklaters, Allens is using the platform to engage with students before they apply for clerkships.

Meet & Engage provides another touchpoint for students keen to ask questions about life at Allens and the clerkship recruitment process, all via an informal chatroom platform.

The Head of Resourcing at Allens, Jenny Della Picca, said Meet & Engage offers another channel for students to learn about a career in law and life at Allens, and to ask the questions they may feel they can't in face-to-face forums.

'Students like to do quite a bit of research to ensure the firms to which they apply are a good fit. Being able to explore things like culture, type of work, views around flexibility, commitment to philanthropy, and even just the application process itself, is an enormous benefit.

'Expanding the touchpoints available to students interested in a career at Allens is important, and Meet & Engage fills a gap in the market. Expanding our reach to all students – particularly students studying away from capital cities, who may find it hard to attend on-campus careers days – is really important,' Jenny said.

Students register to attend a live chat session, where the Q&A is facilitated by representatives from the People & Development team, as well as lawyers and partners across the firm. The format gives students lots of opportunities to ask questions, and the company representatives are able to address these in a way that is likely to benefit those attending the session.

'Attracting and retaining great graduates is important to us and our growth aspiration, and Meet & Engage provides another tool through which we can hear from the talent market in an engaging two-way format,' Jenny said.
