About Kenneth Imako

Kenneth brings over 20 years of litigation experience working on some of PNG's most significant commercial disputes. Kenneth re-joined Allens in 2022 after working at another international law firm for four years.

Kenneth’s experience includes:
  • ExxonMobil PNG – acting in landowner related litigation in addition to various internal matters including human resources and fraud related litigation.
  • Westpac – advising and acting in simple and complex debt recovery litigation.
  • Bank of Papua New Guinea – acting in private prosecution claims under the Central Banking Act, acting in judicial review proceedings and claims relating to regulatory action, advising on wide range of commercial and criminal related disputes.
  • Ok Tedi Mining – acting in a wide range of commercial disputes, including landowner litigation, human resources related claims and Constitutional challenges.
  • Newcrest Mining – acting in various commercial disputes involving landowner claims, human resource disputes, contractual disputes and criminal proceedings.
  • Nambawan Super - assisting in ongoing litigation against the State of PNG in respect of outstanding State contributions to members superannuation.
  • Puma Energy – advising on a range of commercial disputes relating to site leases, vicarious liability, breaches of contract, injunctions and general matters arising from retail operations.
  • Various clients – acting in various court annexed mediation matters covering a range of disputes relating to construction, land ownership, defamation and debt recovery. Appearing as advocate and with external counsel in trials and Supreme Court appeals.
Other experience prior to re-joining Allens includes:
  • Independent State of Papua New Guinea – successfully defending the State against a multi-million Kina damages claim.
  • Mineral Resources Development Company Limited – securing a multi-million-Kina judgment against the State for outstanding landowner compensation.
  • Oil Search – appearing with Counsel for Oil Search in the Commission of Inquiry into the UBS loan and supporting the client through the course of the Inquiry.
  • Total E&P – acting in landowner claims preventing progress of the development forum for the Papua LNG project.
