This is Allens

Our year together in 2021

2021 was an extraordinary year, surprising and challenging us all in ways we didn’t expect. Together with our clients, colleagues, community partners and alumni, we looked ahead to the promise, possibility and potential of 2022.

Erin Tinker and Vijay Cugati

Barrenjoey founding partner Erin Tinker started out doing deals at Allens in 2001. Twenty years on, following one of the biggest ever years in M&A, she and long-term colleague and M&A partner Vijay Cugati reflect on what's driving the boom and what's ahead.

Alison Ryan and Sophie Leitch

Navigating uncertainty took on new meaning for this pair in 2021. Alison Ryan oversees the Refugee Advice and Casework Service (RACS) clinic for refugees seeking asylum as a result of the crisis in Afghanistan. Allens lawyer Sophie Leitch has been part of the team providing pro bono support to the hundreds of people in need of assistance.

Jane McAloon and Greg Prescott

Allens Independent Board member Jane McAloon and Consulting Psychologist Greg Prescott each bring a unique perspective to the events of the past year, and what modern leadership looks like for a firm about to turn 200.

Claire Watson and John Greig

Senior Projects partner John Greig has been a welcome, albeit unlikely, addition to a Brisbane-based book club currently convened by Associate Claire Watson in a year where we've all craved connection.

Lyria Bennett Moses and Jacqui Downes

The UNSW Allens Hub for Technology, Law and Innovation is an independent community of scholars based at UNSW Sydney. Hot on the heels of a renewed three-year partnership, Hub Director Professor Lyria Bennett Moses and new Advisory Board member and Allens partner Jacqui Downes share their reflections on 2021, and aspirations for the role the Hub can play in the future.
